Quality and equity of private sector care for sexually transmitted diseases in South Africa

http://heapol.oupjournals.org/cgi/reprint/17/suppl_1/40.pdf

The poor quality and inequitable prescribing practices uncovered in this study may be undermining efforts to control STDs, especially among those that need it the most, the poor. The uninsured face more difficulties in adhering to treatment, given the tendency of GPs to dispense more inconvenient drugs to them. This requires a fuller understanding of the factors influencing private provider behavior. Document in PDF format, required Acrobat Reader.
