The Institute for Control of Chinese Traditional Medicine and Ethnic Medicine (ICCTMEM) operates under the National Institutes for Food and Drug Control (NIFDC) and serves as a WHO Collaborating Centre for Traditional Medicine (Ref. No: CHN-139). The center focuses on the quality control, safety evaluation, and standardization of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and ethnic medicines. Its responsibilities include developing reference substances, establishing and reviewing standards, and providing technical support to the World Health Organization (WHO) in implementing the WHO Traditional Medicine Strategy 2014–2023. The center also contributes to the development of the WHO's International Herbal Pharmacopoeia and related technical documents
