The Network for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases in Central America (NeTropica) is devoted to promote collaborative biomedical research among various scientific groups working in Central America.Through out the years its main partners have been the laboratories located in the Central American Universities and the Karolinska Institute in Sweden. However, in the last years other international laboratories and Latin American networks have been incorporated as partners. NeTropica gives complementary grant funds to Central American and Swedish laboratories participating in joint research activities, supports the organization of scientific meetings and courses, promotes the exchange of scientist and distributes relevant information for fund raising and collaborative research among the network participants. The future of NeTropica is linked to the success of the participating research units and to fund raising activities performed by the investigators and NeTropica administrative coordination.
